10:30 am – Kevin Guenther, “Native Plants and the Sustainable Landscape”

Landscape architect Kevin Guenther specializes in sustainable design principles including green roofs, rain water harvesting, rain gardens, drought tolerant native plants and soil rebuilding.

1 pm – Beth Flood, “Containers that Last” (This lecture is in the Flood garden, 3512 Central Ave.)

Using her garden as a classroom, Bates Nursery & Garden Center designer Beth Flood will demonstrate how she combines evergreens, shrubs, perennials and annuals for carefree containers.

2:30 pm – “The Dirt on Composting”

Learn the ABC’s of turning your leaves, grass clippings and kitchen scraps into compost  from the experts at the Metro Nashville Beautification and Environment Commission, a division of Public Works.

4:00 pm - Troy Marden, “Creative Containers”

Plant maven Troy Marden is a co-host of Npt’s “Volunteer Gardener” and  a sought-after garden and floral designer and lecturer. His hip containers planted with grasses and other cutting edge plants were featured in the March issue of Garden Design magazine. 


Sunday, May 17

1 pm – Kim Bradley, “Making Your Perennials Sing”

Master Gardener Kim Bradley, gardening specialist for News Channel 5’s “Talk of the Town” and frequent contributor Npt’s “Volunteer Gardener” will tell you all you need to know to grow beautiful, healthy perennials.

3 pm – Beth Flood, “Containers that Last” (This lecture is in the Flood garden, 3512 Central Ave.)

Using her garden as a classroom, Bates Nursery & Garden Center designer Beth Flood will demonstrate how she combines evergreens, shrubs, perennials and annuals for beautiful containers that look good all year.

4 pm – Todd Breyer, “Design Principles for Bed, Border and Beyond”

Landscape architect Todd Breyer will discuss basic design principles whether you’re designing a small annual bed or an entire garden.
